CMIC Group’s Senior Management Team

Our Company, CMIC Group, is led by a Senior Management team with extensive experience in all facets of medical professional liability insurance. CMIC Group has been providing insurance programs, services and innovative business solutions for healthcare providers, hospitals and facilities since 1984.  Our mission extends far beyond providing a superior insurance product. We seek to support our policyholders with individualized protection and service through excellent loss prevention and practice management tools to assist them in dealing with the complex healthcare environment. 


Denise joined the Company at its inception, and has been the CEO and Executive Vice President for over 30 years. She has a CPCU designation, and is an active member of the CPCU Society. Ms. Funk was recognized by the Hartford Business Journal as a Remarkable Woman in Business in 2013.

Manny joined the Company as Chief Financial Officer in 1989. Prior to joining the Company he was with Emhart Corporation, a Fortune 500 multinational company, where he held several positions including Director of Finance and Operations. Manny was also employed by Deloitte & Touche LLP.

Manny is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants and graduated with honors from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.

Chief Financial Officer


Stephen J. Gallant joined the Company in 2017 as Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Gallant previously worked for MMG Insurance for more than 20 years in various leadership roles that included Assistant Vice President of Accounting, Vice President of Marketing, and most recently serving as Senior Vice President of External Operations where he was responsible for underwriting, marketing, customer service and regional operations.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business and a Master of Science in Business from Husson College and he has also attended executive development programs at Dartmouth’s Tuck Business School. Mr. Gallant has been active in civic organizations including being a board member of Leaders Encouraging Aroostook Development, the Northern Maine Community College Accounting Systems Advisory Committee, the University of Maine Presque Isle Development Committee, and a past member of the Presque Isle Rotary Club.

Michael Morgan is responsible for the development and promotion of professional liability solutions for healthcare professionals and hospitals. He brings over 27 years of business development and claims experience to his position. Mr. Morgan began his career at Aetna and joined the company in 1989, where he served as the company's Litigation Manager before moving to Darwin Professional Underwriters as Claims Manager in 2004. He returned to the Company Group in 2007 to lead its Massachusetts operations before his appointment to oversee the Company’s business development initiatives.

Mike joined the Company as Director of Finance in 2017 with over 27 years of experience in financial roles.  Prior to joining the Company, Mike was employed for 14 years by Travelers Insurance, a Dow Jones Component entity, where he gained diverse exposure to their P&C Insurance businesses.  Initially he was in the planning and financial reporting area of Personal Lines.

He then progressed to the Finance Controller role in the Small Commercial Business area before advancing to a similar Controller role within the International businesses including partnering with cross functional leaders to provide the financial support on various strategies. The start of his career included seven years with Deloitte & Touche, LLP, followed by a financial reporting role with a newly created affiliate of the Zurich Group.  Mike holds a Bachelor of Science in Business - Accounting, from the University of Connecticut where he graduated cum laude.  He is also a Certified Public Accountant.


Michael Conneely

Director - Finance


Denise Condron joined the Company in 2012. Ms. Condron has over twenty years of healthcare experience in both clinical and administrative roles. While in her clinical role in nuclear medicine, Ms. Condron implemented and managed multiple diagnostic centers in both inpatient and outpatient settings. She worked with various regulatory and accrediting bodies as a site inspector and as a Radiation Safety Officer for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Her administrative roles have been in Operations, working in large multispecialty groups and community hospitals on the director level. As a Healthcare consultant, Ms. Condron has worked with many hospital and outpatient practices to assess risk and educate administration on workflow efficiencies and error reduction. In addition to certifications in radiology, mammography and nuclear medicine, Ms. Condron holds a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership from Quinnipiac University. She is a member of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management, the Massachusetts Society of Healthcare Risk Management and the Massachusetts Coalition for the Prevention of Medical Errors

Kevin has been advancing the interests of insureds for over 25 years, first as a defense trial attorney and more recently as an insurance claims executive. After graduating from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 1992, Kevin tried cases for the Aetna and Travelers in-house firms and was a partner in the insurance defense firm of Russo, LaRose & Bresnahan. He was responsible for all aspects of insurance defense litigation including trials, appeals and coverage analysis. He continued his career as the Manager of the National Accounts Claim Unit at Discover Re, an alternative risk provider, before joining the company as Claims Director at in 2013. Kevin’s extensive litigation and claims management experience make him a valuable leader of the company's dedicated team of claim professionals.

Kevin Bresnahan, JD

Director - Claims


Ray joined the Company in January of 2015 and is responsible for leading the team of information technology professionals who provide ongoing analysis and support of operations in addition to responsibilities which include project management, cyber security and strategic planning. He has more than 20 years of experience in corporate insurance information technology management, having served in numerous leadership roles during this period.

Ray received his Bachelor of Science in General Engineering from the United States Military Academy. After graduating from West Point, he earned his Masters in Operations Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
