What is iMedConsent™?
iMedConsent™ is a comprehensive, computer-based informed consent and patient education solution that is used by hospitals, surgery centers and physician practices. The system is used to inform patients about the clinical details, risks, benefits and alternatives associated with thousands of medical treatments and procedures. More than 15,000 physicians and 160 medical centers use iMedConsent™ to assist them in educating and informing their patients.
What does iMedConsent™ offer?
- Comprehensive library of education materials describe different conditions and treatments.
- Detailed procedure-specific informed consents forms for 28 specialties including procedure description, risks, benefits, alternatives, and likely outcomes if no treatment elected.
- Anatomical diagrams and images.
- Post-procedural care instructions.
- Comprehensive library of drug information documents.
- Materials (consent forms, educational material, post-op discharge instructions) written at a 5th or 6th grade level.
- Documents available in English or Spanish.
- Regular review schedule for all consent and education documents.
- Endorsed by the American College of Surgeons.
Is there a fee to access iMedConsent™ in addition to the premiums I already pay?
As a CMIC policyholder, access is provided free of charge. Typically healthcare professionals would pay a fee to their malpractice insurance carrier or other provider to access iMedConsent™. However, our policy is to provide our members high quality services, tools and education free of charge whenever possible.
How do I access iMedConsent™?
Contact Nancy Moody, RN, CMIC medical loss prevention specialist at 800.228.0287, ext. 283 to request access. Please allow 1-2 weeks for completion of the registration and customization process. Upon completion of the initial process, iMedConsent™ will be available to you within our secure “For Members” section of our website.
